SARASOTA, Florida, October 8, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Global Ordnance, LLC (GO) and Serbian manufacturer Yugoimport SDPR JP (Yugo) successfully completed US military testing of the NORA B-52 M21 155mm mobile howitzer system at Yuma Proving Ground (YPG), Yuma, Arizona to September 3, 2021 after months of rigorous evaluation. An improved version of Yugo’s NORA system participated in United States Army shoot-off assessment of 155mm mobile howitzers to determine which systems best meet military needs. NORA was subjected to a variety of priority tasks designed to test and push the boundaries of the system.
The tests measured a wide variety of performance parameters including mobility, fire control integration, firing of US Army projectiles with MACS propellant charges across the range of propellant charge zones, including focusing on maximum charge shot.
Yugo’s NORA B-52 M21 is the latest version of the NORA system that has received a chassis upgrade as well as fully automatic loading system updates for compatibility with US Army MACS propellant charges. Yugo’s design engineers participated in testing to find out what improvements would be most needed by U.S. Army artillery crews. Upgrades to test feedback are already being designed to meet the needs of the US Army’s mobile artillery. The NORA B-52 M21 system will be on display at the annual AUSA exhibit in Washington, DC. October 11-13.
GO and Yugo were both happy with the overall performance of the system and believe the NORA B-52 M21 would be a powerful option for the US military. Marc Morales, president of Global Ordnance, LLC, expressed his enthusiasm after the test.
“The NORA system showed great capacity even in the extremely harsh conditions of the Arizona desert during the hottest part of the summer. We drew a tough time to show what the system could do, and it l ‘brought out of the park. The Yugo team provided support, successfully demonstrated the flexibility and performance of NORA, and went above and beyond to show Yugo’s commitment to delivering an exceptional product. ‘this is a formidable team and weapon system. “
– Marc Morales, president
Once firing is complete, the U.S. Army evaluates the test data to determine the optimal path forward to modernize the Army’s mobile artillery.
GO is very grateful to Yugoimport for their dedication and commitment to their team of engineers, mechanics and crew who supported the tests of the US Army. Our combined team displayed our responsive and agile support during testing at YPG.
