Shah will release the District Good Governance Index for 20 districts in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, a move that will make Jammu and Kashmir the first Union Territory in the country to have a Good Governance Index.
The event will be jointly organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development of Jammu and Kashmir in association with the Center for Good Governance of Jammu and Kashmir. ‘Hyderabad.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha will also speak at the event.
The Jammu and Kashmir District Good Governance Index has been prepared by DARPG in collaboration with the Government of Jammu and Kashmir as per the announcements made in the resolution “Behtar e-Hukumat – Kashmir Aelamia” adopted on 2 July 2021, at the Regional Council Conference on Replicating Good Governance Practices held in Srinagar.
The exercise on the formulation of the District Good Governance Index was launched in July 2021 and is now complete and Jammu and Kashmir will become the first Union Territory in the country to have a Good Governance Index.
The District Good Governance Index of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir represents a major administrative reform in the assessment of good governance at the district level and a milestone for the timely collection and publication of statistics at the district level. state/district.
The District Good Governance Index is a milestone and is expected to provide a sound framework for evidence-based assessment of the performance of all districts in Jammu and Kashmir.
Chief Secretary of Government of Jammu and Kashmir Arun Kumar Mehta and V. Srinivas, DARPG Secretary of Government of India will also speak at the event.
The event will bring together senior government officials of Jammu and Kashmir, district collectors and district planning officers.
Planning secretaries and administrative reform secretaries from all state and UT governments and non-election related state district collectors were also invited to participate in the event via videoconference.
On this occasion, a presentation on the formulation of the District Good Governance Index will be made by the Center for Good Governance, Hyderabad.
This will be followed by district presentations by 12 selected District Development Commissioners, who will showcase the accomplishments of various sectors.
Afterwards, a panel discussion will be held on DGGI – A way forward for the futuristic version 2.0 of DGGI to measure and benchmark district performance and improvement in the future as well.
