CHARLESTON, SC, August 19, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — EverGlade Consulting (“EverGlade”), a national consulting firm, has successfully partnered with one of the world’s leading providers of drug delivery technology to successfully secure and manage $150 million in federal funding. The project will contribute to the global expansion of pharmaceutical lipids in United States.
Lipids are essential components in the formulation of nucleic acid therapies and are required for the active ingredients of mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid). The industrial-based expansion project will further enable the flexible production of lipids and enable the future growth of novel mRNA-based therapies, serving applications beyond COVID-19 vaccines in controlling infectious diseases, the cancer immunotherapy, protein replacement and gene therapy. The new facility will enable future rapid response and a large supply of lipids to prepare for a future pandemic, thus strengthening vaccine production capacities in United States.
The total investment for the Lipid production plant is $220 millionwith funding from the U.S. government $150 million through the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) of Health and Human Services (HHS). BARDA has an increased need for national development, rapid manufacturing and distribution of vaccine products to meet the 21st health security threats of the century, as seen most recently with COVID-19. BARDA also promotes coordinated contract support with support from the Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense (JPEO-CBRND).

Construction of the IBx facility will begin in early 2023 and operations will begin in 2025.
