(Frankfurt, January 25) Link11, Europe’s leading IT security provider in protecting web services and infrastructure against cyberattacks, is the only global provider tested to offer comprehensive protection against DDoS attacks. When it comes to defending against an attack, Link11 is over six times faster than average. This is the main conclusion of a recent study by IT analyst Frost & Sullivan conducted in collaboration with penetration testing specialist NimbusDDoS.
The test results identified Link11 as the clear leader. The company was the only one to meet all the criteria of the independent study and achieve the highest accuracy and speed when detecting and mitigating DDoS attacks. According to the results, Link11 sets new standards in DDoS protection and has a strong technological lead in the industry. These two parameters are crucial for companies wishing to strengthen the resilience of their IT infrastructures.
“The growing reliance of a growing number of industries on the Internet requires companies to have a security strategy designed for constant availability and zero downtime caused by cyber attacks” , says Marc Wilczek, CEO of Link11. “Literally every minute of downtime costs money. Our outstanding test results prove that uncompromising resilience against overload attacks is possible and Link11’s DDoS protection is the best way to achieve it.
DDoS protection solutions tested for accuracy and speed
The assessment involved technologically rigorous stress testing of various common attack types performed by the leading international DDoS stress attack penetration testing provider, NimbusDDoS, based in Boston, USA. In addition to high-volume UDP attacks, reflection amplification attacks, and SYN floods, protection solutions from five global vendors also faced new and hard-to-detect carpet bombing attacks.
In all test scenarios, only systems protected by Link11 fully resisted each attack. No other vendor was able to detect all types of attacks. Additionally, there were huge differences in their response times: while other vendors would often waste precious minutes mitigating an attack, Link11 identified and stopped nearly all attacks in real time or within seconds.
DDoS attacks pose a major threat to enterprise business processes and continue to grow in relevance as a type of cyberattack
According to the unanimous assessment of analysts, DDoS attacks are one of the greatest cybersecurity risks. This form of attack has grown significantly in recent months. This is primarily due to the digitalization of many areas of work and life caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has resulted in countless new attack surfaces. Today’s threat landscape also includes new, sophisticated attacks such as carpet bombing, which is difficult to detect, and new waves of DDoS ransomware extortion, where cybercriminals pressure companies to they pay a ransom or have their online systems crippled or destroyed.
Despite the strong correlation between the duration of a cyberattack and its business impact (i.e. the longer the attack, the greater the impact), too many companies still underestimate the risk. or think that their existing protection solutions are sufficient. Although many protection solutions on the market have similar value propositions, they differ significantly in their technical capabilities. To achieve true operational resilience and faster response times, analysts say companies choosing DDoS protection should consider how quickly and accurately the vendors they are considering can identify and defend against attacks. The conclusion is clear: the faster the attack is successfully stopped, the lower the financial damage.
