New research shows machine vision systems on quantum computers outperform their conventional counterparts in detecting defects in automotive production line images

SAN SEBASTIÁN, SPAIN, Aug. 16, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — Multiverse Computing, a global leader in providing value-based quantum computing solutions, and IKERLAN, a leading technology transfer center delivering competitive value to the industry, published the results of a joint research study that detected defects in manufactured automotive parts via image classification by quantum machine vision systems.

The research team developed a quantum enhanced kernel method for classification on universal gated quantum computers as well as a quantum classification algorithm on quantum annealing. The researchers found that both algorithms outperform common classical methods in identifying relevant images and accurately classifying manufacturing defects.
