PM decides to move SC against LHC decision


LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to challenge the court’s decision on the Ravi Urban Development Project (RUDA) in the Supreme Court.

During his visit to Lahore on Friday, the Prime Minister held important meetings with provincial and federal ministers and senior officials.

Chairing a meeting, the Prime Minister said the government would challenge the decision to ban Ravi’s urban development project, adding that it was not true to consider it merely a housing project, but that it s It was a project to close the gaps in building a city without planning. .

He said that there had been an investment of about $1.5 billion in the project with a total cost of $20 billion, and Lahore was to become a new city after the execution of this project. “The Ravi River could only be protected by this project and the PTI government was the first to take action to eradicate environmental pollution.

This project would generate new employment opportunities and 30 to 40 new industrial units would be created. Meanwhile, Provincial Law Minister Raja Muhammad Basharat visited Prime Minister Imran Khan during his visit to Lahore, while Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also attended.

Raja Basharat briefed the Prime Minister and Chief Minister on legislative matters in Punjab and obtained necessary instructions. The Prime Minister praised the performance of the Minister of Justice and discussed the upcoming local body elections in Punjab.

Imran ordered that the legislation for holding local body elections be completed soon. The Prime Minister also ordered that necessary legislation be introduced to bring justice to the people and eliminate unnecessary delays in court cases.

The Prime Minister said the efforts of the Cooperative Department of Punjab to reclaim land from illegal occupiers and unprecedented recovery were commendable. “Appointing a new president at Cooperatives Bank after seven years and formulating policies favorable to farmers is a good decision,” the Prime Minister said. The Minister for Law and Cooperatives thanked the Prime Minister for his confidence and assured that steps would be taken under the leadership of the Chief Minister of Punjab to improve the lives of the common man in line with the PTI manifesto.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the site of the ongoing development works of the Central Business District Punjab (CBDP). On this occasion, the Prime Minister was briefed on the successful auction and development works of Lahore Prime as well as the upcoming auction of 7 new mixed-use commercial land.

The Prime Minister was further briefed on the new Lahore Downtown auction scheduled for the end of February, following which 7 mixed-use commercial land will be auctioned. Investors are already interested in downtown Lahore. The government is expected to derive significant revenue from the said auction.

Earlier, as a result of the Lahore Prime auction, the government secured revenues of up to Rs 24b and the construction of these buildings will also create countless jobs and business opportunities.

Director General of Lahore Central Business District (CBD) Development Authority, Imran Amin, said projects such as the Central Business District in Pakistan were extremely vital for the revival of dead capital, urban regeneration through sustainable vertical development and the creation of jobs and business opportunities. CBD Punjab is attracting investment which is reflected in the successful Lahore Prime auction. Wealth generation worth Rs 1,500b is expected from this project.

CBD is developed under the vision of Imran Khan and under the leadership of Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Bazdar to protect the environment and promote sustainable development.
