The Scott Sport Shield Supersonic Edition sunglasses may have their design roots in the past, but with excellent large lens clarity and plentiful eye coverage, their performance is certainly up to date. It’s not a bad price either.
There are two versions of these sunglasses, the standard Sport Shields which come with a black frame and a red chrome lens, or this limited edition Supersonic option with its purple frame and pink chrome lens. They’re both the same price and you can buy replacement lenses for £ 25.99.

My first thought when I got the glasses back was, âHey, the ’90s called, and they want their sunglasses back! Turns out I wasn’t too far off, as Sport Shield goggles were originally released in 1989.
Scott says the shape has been updated and the glasses use the latest technology to bring them up to modern standards.
The Fusion mount is lightweight and quite minimalistic considering the size of the lens, which certainly helps with visibility. When you glance over your shoulder to check the traffic behind or when entering roundabouts, there is no piece of plastic to restrict your view.
The arms are quite short, which Scott says makes them compatible with many models of helmets. I tried them on with at least four helmets during testing and had no issues with the fit.
Some goggles use straight arms at the back, relying on pressure on your head to hold them in place, while Sport Shields are prevented from moving by the arms hooked at the end. Both designs have their merits, and I’m not necessarily a fan of one over the other, but what I do know is that the Scots stayed in place and I didn’t have to. adjust them constantly.
Speaking of which, you can close or open the nose for adjustment.
The lens provides 100% UVA and UVB protection, and I have found the color to work well on very bright days up to cloudy days. The transition from light to dark when passing through trees takes a few seconds to adjust, but has never been a problem.
The wrap-around style of the lens limits airflow over the eyes which is a big bonus if you suffer from hay fever.
The overall quality is very good. The frame is stiff enough to retain shape while allowing flexibility for comfort and in the event of a fall or sitting.
The lens also appears to be resistant to scratches from normal wear and tear.
Priced at £ 81.99, they represent good value for money, especially compared to the similar quality large lens glasses we tested recently. The Alba Optics Delta BLK VZUM Lavas cost £ 129.88, for example, and while the MAAP x 100% Glendale goggles come with a spare lens in the box, they cost £ 195.
I would, however, like the Scotts to come with a hard case for storage.

Overall I have been very impressed with the Sport Shield eyewear over the past couple of months. They adapt well and worked in the majority of lighting conditions I encountered. The price is also competitive.
