Newnan, Georgia plant expected to drive growth in industrial sector
Vienna – The Semperit Group has officially opened a rubber gasket manufacturing plant in Newnan, Georgia, which will also serve as the new North American headquarters for the Austrian polymer group.
As part of the $10 million (€9.4 million) investment, Semperit moved its existing headquarters and distribution center from Stone Mountain to Newnan, Georgia.
Additionally, the investment saw the addition of two new production lines for manufacturing sealing components at the 14,000 square meter site, Semperit announced on June 9.
Based in the Coweta County Industrial Park, the new factory has created 70 new jobs and is powered “entirely by renewable energy sources”.
The facility produces building facade seals, window seals and expansion joints for roads and bridges, while providing distribution space for the full range of sealants, conveyor belts and pipes.
“[I am] fully convinced that investing in the continued growth of the Semperit Group within the largest economic region in the world will be essential to our future success,” said CEO Karl Haider at the official opening ceremony on June 9.
“We are guided by a market-driven approach, focusing more on practical applications and accelerating our product development processes,” he added.
The new facility was due to open in November last year and, according to Semperit, has been operational for a few months. The official opening was delayed due to Covid-19.
In its statement, Semperit said the move was in line with the growth strategy in North America, where the Austrian group has recorded “impressive growth” in recent years.
“By focusing on the local level, we are in a much better position to meet the ever-growing needs of our customers with greater speed and efficiency,” said Irene Coughlin, Managing Director Americas.
“The new headquarters and production site will enhance the efficiency of our operations, allowing us to manage our supply chains and logistics more effectively,” she added.
