Spider-Man: No Way Home is already the biggest movie of the pandemic era, grossing over $1.7 billion at the global box office. Along with the love and appreciation from fans, the movie may soon be up for awards as well. According to reports, Marvel Studios is set to push the film forward to the Oscars. But the film’s lead actor, Tom Holland, doesn’t care too much.
During a recent interaction while promoting his upcoming film Uncharted, Tom opened up about talk of No Way Home’s Oscar nomination and argued that while it was a great honor, greater validation for him was the love that fans have already shown the film.
Speaking to Fox 5, Tom said: “Obviously it would be a huge honor if he was nominated for an Oscar, but I think that’s not how we like to validate each other. We like to validate each other with people. love we’ve received from the general public and so far it’s gone through the roof, so for me, with this movie and this character, I’ve done it all already.
The actor also opened up about how emotional he was to see fan reactions to certain moments in the film, especially the return of the other two Spider-Men, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Tom said he was in tears every time he watched these scenes.
He said: “I’ve never seen this kind of reaction from the public and to be a part of it was so emotional, like I couldn’t watch these videos without getting really, really emotional. When it premiered, I was in tears at the end of this film and it was a combination of my pride in the film, the quality of the film, my emotion about how this chapter ended and what we had all achieved.”
Fan videos from the December premiere of No Way Home appear to confirm this as Tom is seen on the red carpet tearfully thanking fans for loving the film.
