HUNTSVILLE, Alabama (WAFF) – Toyota is spending $ 288 million on employees at the Huntsville manufacturing plant to build and develop the engine for the 2022 Toyota Tundra.

If you are looking for a job, Toyota Manufacturing is looking for you.

The company is currently hiring hundreds of employees.

“This new engine line will produce an engine every 58 seconds or so after we start. This equates to roughly 18,000 motors per month, which we will be producing right off of this new motor assembly line, ”said manager Mark Klee.

Toyota’s Huntsville manufacturing facility will be the exclusive manufacturer of Toyota Tundra’s new upgraded and powerful twin-turbo V6 engine in North America.

“It’s the top-of-the-range engine. It’s the most complex and it allows the customer to get the most out of all the products we offer in North America, ”said Klee.

“We expect pricing and fuel economy information to drop in October, but it has a towing capacity of 12,000 pounds. That’s 17 percent more than the previous engine. In addition, it has 389 horsepower. It’s a powerful engine, ”said spokesperson Bekah Schmidt.

Employees will start building the engines next month.

“The fact that Alabama was chosen to build this engine really shows the company’s confidence in the Alabama location,” Klee said.

The Toyota spokeswoman says the starting wage is $ 19 an hour to work on the assembly line.

It will be one of the many engines made in the factory.
